I can't believe we can't find photos of us lugging 130 pounds of high-interest beginner and intermediate books designed for young adult English Language Learners. Last year we built bookcases; this year we filled them! Thank you to Lynn Gershman and Lisa Chinnery at Boulder Valley School District who redirected books from a prior literature program that were required to be discarded.

English is a critical skill needed to be able to migrate and work across the EU. Probably our greatest contribution to young people at Velos is the everyday conversations we have. They are curious about us and want to share the stories they are ready to share with us. As with any language learner, finding engaging, age-appropriate reading material to help them grow their skills is so important.

Doris is the teacher at Velos. She works tirelessly to prepare the students to take their English equivallency exams- they'll get certificates from the University of Michigan or Cambridge in the UK. This helps them in muliple ways. English is key to staying and working in the EU. It will also help with their asylum cases, each one developed and presented with the aid of Velos' attorney Eirini Gravani.
