We need your help!

     We’ve just found out that our great friends at Velos Youth Centre (Athens) are facing a funding crisis. 

     Velos is losing funding for their very, very important (part-time) attorney. She is responsible for handling the immigration/asylum cases of all of Velos young people seeking asylum. That's essentially all of them.

Funding cuts in USAID and EU sources have a trickle-down effect and the impact is evident here.  Eirini Gravani is currently funded through the end of 2025, but the promised grant money for continued funding is not available.. 

For our most recent trip (10/1/25-10/31/25) we raised about $5,000 with most of it going into Velos’ general fund. This allows Velos to use part or all of this money to help fund their attorney.

     BUT, that amount will only cover part of her year’s salary. So, we’re asking (uncomfortably, I might add) you to consider helping us/them again. 

     FYI - we will not be despondent if you choose not to help so soon after already ponying up … but we’re hoping. AND, we won’t ask for more when we go back in 2026. 

Marc and I are very committed to this organization, so we’ll contribute 10% of whatever you all contribute or $1,000, whichever is higher. Check out a glimpse into our experience here at HaveGoodWillTravel.com

         (Humanity Now) - Marc’s sister Dana’s non-profit - U.S. tax deductible! Let us know if you contribute here so we can let Humanity Now know that the donation is for Velos. Humanity Now is spread thin, too. They are now helping in our own country because the need is so great.
